Omega-3 fatty acids are key

Omega-3 fatty acids have an indispensable role in the growth and development of children's nervous system, brain tissue and vision. This is why the need for omega-3 fatty acids, which have also a significant impact on the heart and nervous system, is increased during childhood.

People consume 77% less fish, which are a source of omega-3 fatty acids, than what is recommended. Since a sufficient quantity of omega-3 fatty acids cannot be ensured through food, fish oil may be added to meals of children, which they often do not like due to its unpleasant smell and taste. The Omega-3 junior syrup has an excellent taste and doesn’t smell of fish, and per recommended daily dose (2 spoons = 10 ml) it contains 250 mg of DHA and 50 mg of EPA.

Customer Questions
How do vitamins added to the syrup function?
Vitamin A contributes to ensuring iron metabolism and to the maintenance of normal vision. Vitamin B12 contributes to the function of the immune system, to the normal psychological function, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and contributes to normal red blood cell formation. Vitamin C contributes to the function of the immune system, to the normal psychological function, and contributes to the normal function of the immune system. Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of healthy bones and teeth and to the normal function of the immune system. The Omega-3 junior syrup contains vitamin D in its natural D3 form (cholecalciferol), which absorbs well into the body. Folate contributes to normal blood formation. Also contributes to the normal psychological function and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
What are omega-3 fatty acids and why are they important?
Omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids are important for the synthesis of eicosanoid hormones, which impact reproductive functions, regulate blood clotting, blood pressure and body temperature. They also impact the normal development and function of the brain and nervous system. According to certain guidelines, fat should represent up to 30% of consumed energy, whereby saturated fat should not exceed 10%. Omega-3 also belong to unsaturated fatty acids, which fall among essential fatty acids – which means that the body is unable to synthesise them, and therefore need to be introduced with food. A large dietary source of omega-3 is represented mainly by “fatty” fish, which are however not consumed in sufficient quantities by children.
When are the omega-3 fatty acids most important?
Omega-3 fatty acids have an indispensable role in the growth and development of children's nervous system, brain tissue and vision, particularly in the last three months of pregnancy and first years of the child’s development. This is why the need for omega-3 fatty acids, which have also a significant impact on the heart and nervous system, is increased in that period of time. People consume 77% less fish, which are a source of omega-3 fatty acids, than what is recommended. The recommended daily dose for children aged 2 to 18 is the same as for the adult population, i.e. eating fatty fish once to twice a week. Since a sufficient quantity of omega-3 fatty acids cannot be ensured through food, fish oil may be added to meals of children, which they often do not like due to its unpleasant smell and taste.
How are omega-3 fatty acids formed?
Omega-3 fatty acids fall among essential fatty acids, which means that our body is unable to synthesise them and must be consumed through food. There are 3 type of omega-3 fatty acids: ALA, EPA and DHA. Our body must first convert ALA fatty acid into EPA and DHA; however, this conversion is very inefficient, since it converts only a very low percentage. The most important step in endogenous synthesis is the conversion of EPA into DHA, which is considerably impacted by the intake of EPA and DHA through food. DHA may also be synthesised from EPA, which is consumed with seafood, through the same biochemical process. For this reason, vegetable oils, rich with omega-3 (with ALA), are not the best choice for replacing omega-3 fatty acids. Age and gender also affect conversion to a considerable extent.

Why choose Medex?

hitra-dejstva-o-propolisu-defense

A bee family is an extraordinary superorganism. Each member has a specific role, which has preserved this species for millions of years. Bees, these amazing beings, “invented” magnificent preparations, such as propolis, royal jelly, honey, bee pollen – which are beneficial for people as well –, in order to survive. A Slovenian saying goes: Follow the bees. This is also the genetic make-up of our company, which defines us and from which we draw inspiration for our work.

Tradition and the power of nature remain the source and inspiration for our work. We complement them with the verified quality of patented and standardised ingredients, the effects of which are proven by clinical studies, in the right doses and combinations. In Medex’s development laboratories a registered research team with 4 PhDs develops products that combine traditional use with clinically proven effects.

Medex products are based on standardised and controlled content of main active substances and high production standards with which we ensure their consistent quality. We also pay significant attention to selecting packaging and have been packing an increasing number of products in glass packaging in order to preserve the value and efficiency of natural active substances as best as possible and at the same to take better care for the environment.

Medex has been operating in a sustainable manner for decades. From a company, which established and developed beekeeping already in former Yugoslavia, grew an undertaking that is expanding beekeeping around the world. In this manner we are realising quite a few of the seventeen of Unesco’s sustainable goals: eliminating poverty, hunger, caring of the environment, empowering women. Indeed, beekeeping contributes to the achievement of all these goals.
